I want to officially welcome you to the Town of Cobourg, a place I have called home for 62 years, worked in as a citizen for 26 years and have presided over the Town as Mayor for 8 years.
Cobourg is an award-winning lakeside community located on the north shore of Lake Ontario halfway between Toronto and Kingston. We have been recognized multiple times by MoneySense Magazine as “One of Canada’s Best Places to Live” in populations under 25,000.
Founded in 1798, we are rich in heritage offering a vibrant downtown, sophisticated small town atmosphere and renowned for our waterfront that serves as a popular getaway destination. We are privileged to live in an area of unsurpassed beauty and I encourage you to explore our trails, shores and parks.
As the largest town in Northumberland County, we are personified by historic Victoria Hall, host to a 27.4 million dollar community centre, an educated and skilled labour force, flourishing commercial sector and supportive municipal government.
With that said, we are always open for business. In fact, we are currently in the process of opening Venture13, a state-of-the-art innovation centre for start-ups and entrepreneurs. This technology centre will connect and empower industry, investors, makers, the research community and other key partners locally and across the regional ecosystem.
Whether you’re here to build sandcastles on our beach, attend a festival, tour our heritage districts, walk our pristine trails or are considering relocating to our charming Town, we welcome you! Cobourg will charm you… just as it has me.
