Spanning nearly 750 metres, Cobourg Beach is no stranger to travelers and most definitely needs no introduction. This “Blue Flag” certified slice of heaven is host to nearly 850,000 visitors each year. How do they find their way here? Let’s just say, the cat is out of the bag on this one. What makes this beachfront so special is the people that keep on coming back. If you’ve been here once, then that is all you need as incentive to start planning your next trip. Whether you’re after a relaxing day away from the city or you want to see how many different types of poutine you can consume in one afternoon, we’ve got something for you!
“It’s about pride. It’s about being Canadian.”
The Cobourg Waterfront Festival is a great example. It runs during the Canada Day long weekend and in many ways resembles the infamous Venice Beach. From food trucks to carnival rides, a game of beach volleyball or, of course, just to soak up some sun, The Victoria Beach Waterfront is a perfect option. The Cobourg Waterfront Festival is in its 27th year and it’s no surprise why!
“Like anywhere, there’s a need here and we serve that need”
Filled with vendors both local and afar, food sampling, local beer masters and games for the kids, the Festival takes pride in the fact that all proceeds collected from the event go back into the Community. “Through our Waterfront Festival we are able to make donations to the local Food Bank and The Northumberland Hills Hospital — we even give free eye exams!”
When we asked Lion’s Club sitting President, George Laurensic, what fuels the passion of the people behind this festival he responded simply by saying “It’s not about me, it’s not about us. It’s about making a difference in the community and passing that feeling along to others.”
Come down and spend the day! We’re sure you’ll find something you like!
